We'll then make our way to Kibale National Park, the primate capital of the world. It's here where we'll encounter the magnificent primates and go trekking to find Chimpanzees in the Kibale Forest.

After Kibale, our adventure continues to the hidden beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park where we'll experience an unforgettable wildlife safari and boat cruise.

We later cross over to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the once-in-a-lifetime mountain Gorilla trekking and get to hang out with Gorillas in the wild!

From Bwindi, we'll then make our way to Lake Bunyonyi, the most beautiful lake in Uganda boasting 29 islands. Here we can simply relax, or join in on some optional activities such as community tours, island tours, or quad bike riding.

Our 10 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Airport – Entebbe

Elliott, myself and our local tour guide will be meeting you at Entebbe International Airport to welcome you to Uganda!

We'll then drive a short 10 minutes to our hotel in Entebbe.

Entebbe is a very quiet town located on the shores of Lake Victoria and can easily be explored on foot, by bicycle (pre-booked), or on motorbikes known as boda boda.

The town offers a wide variety of craft shops where you can purchase souvenirs or perhaps head out to visit the Botanical gardens with an opportunity to see some monkeys that are always playing in the forest.

We can also opt for a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa and the second largest freshwater lake in the world. We can enjoy some snacks and beer during the cruise which can be pre-planned at a cost.

After sunset, we'll head out for a group dinner at Café Javas and our local guide will brief everyone about how the trip will flow.

Stay: Overnight at K Hotel
Meals: Dinner included

Day 2: Transfer To Kibale National Park

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off from Entebbe to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal at around 8 am.

Along the way, we'll have a lunch break in Fort Portal before proceeding to Kibale.

Fort Portal is commonly known as the tourism city of Uganda because of its strategic location to most of the tourist sights and its very green scenery.

The drive through Fort Portal takes us through scenic views of the tea plantations.

Upon arriving in Kibale, we'll check in to our accommodation and have the rest of the afternoon to relax, followed by dinner at the lodge in the evening.

About Kibale National Park:

This tranquil tropical forest provides an ultimate chimp encounter thanks to its status as a fully-fledged primate capital, boasting 13 species of both old world and new world monkeys.

These range from black-and-white colobus, blue monkey, red-tailed monkey, vervets, L’Hoest’s monkey, and the bonus being bush babies.

Situated in the shadows of Mountain Rwenzori, this 795km2 lush jungle is surrounded by scenic tea plantations on one side, and Uganda's most beautiful crater lakes on the other side.

On its third side, you will find a contiguous wildlife corridor linking Queen Elizabeth National Park.

This means you should brace yourself for when random elephants turn up, or other mammal species like duikers, forest hogs, bushbuck, and even bush pigs.

Stay: Overnight at Chimpanzee Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Travel time: 6+ hours including lunch stop

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking

After an early breakfast, we'll set off at 7:00 am to the park office for a 45-minute briefing in preparation for the Chimpanzee trekking.

The Chimpanzee trekking takes roughly 1 – 2 hours depending on the location of the Chimps.

The trail in the Kibale Forest at times can be slippery and may require a bit of climbing. It's recommended to bring good hiking shoes, plenty of drinking water, a rain jacket, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts.

We'll get to spend 1-hour observing and taking pictures of the Chimps in the forest, an experience you'll never forget!

After the Chimpanzee trekking, we shall return to the lodge for lunch.

Note: If you wish to spend more time in the forest with the Chimpanzees, there is an opportunity for Chimpanzee habituation which is a full-day activity and a permit goes for $250 USD per person.

In the afternoon, we'll head out for an optional community experience to see how locals in the area live their lives and this will involve a run-through of how local beer is made, local coffee processing at home, a visit to the local medicine man who is one of the most respected men in the community, and local cow milking methods.

Dinner will be served back at the lodge in the evening.

Stay: Overnight at Chimpanzee Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 4: Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, we'll make the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

One of the common features we'll see during the drive is the famous ranges of Mountain Rwenzori with the highest peak Margherita standing at an impressive 5,109m.

The drive takes us through community markets and we can stop at any time to take some pictures.

We'll stop for lunch along the way and dinner will be served at the lodge.

About Queen Elizabeth National Park:

This national park is the true African wilderness of jaw-dropping beauty with large concentrations of both predators and prey still enduring.

Its huge skies, open savannahs, patches of forest, and rolling hills are majestic, to say the least.

Altogether, it covers 1,978km of utter wilderness in the Western Rift Valley and spans the equator line.

Once here, brace yourself for 600 bird species and 95 mammal species. These range from elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, topi, chimpanzees, Uganda kob, bushbuck, hippos, crocodiles...the list goes on.

This Big 5 Destination is set in a field of beautiful crater lakes, some of which are unanimously ranked among the 10 most beautiful craters worldwide.

Stay: Overnight at Elephant Hub Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Travel time: 3 - 4 hours including lunch stop

Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Cruise

An early rise to start our safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park at 6:30 am.

Queen Elizabeth boasts of one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game park or reserve in the world.

Located on the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley southwest of Kasese, its vegetation comprises a savannah, acacia, euphorbia trees, and large papyrus swamps.

More than 100 mammal species and 500 bird species make this territory an unmissable destination for tourists.

The Maramagambo Forest houses a large selection of monkeys and birds with flamingos on the crater lakes.

Our morning Game Drive provides an excellent opportunity to see lions, elephants, leopards, topi, and many other animals! (Remember these are wild animals and nature can’t be tamed, so we can’t be 100% sure of seeing all the animals).

After the Game Drive, we'll transfer to the lodge for lunch at around 12:30 pm before heading to the boat cruise at 1:30 pm.

We also have the option of doing the boat cruise later in the day at 4 pm in case you want to relax.

The boat trip on the Mweya Peninsula takes us along the Kazinga channel which is a 41km stretch of water and believed to be the longest natural water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

Here we'll have the opportunity to see crocodiles, hippos, and birds that inhabit the shoreline.

The boat cruise takes roughly 2 hours and after the cruise, we'll head back to the lodge and dinner will be served in the evening.

Stay: Overnight at Elephant Hub Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 6: Transfer To Bwindi National Park

Another early morning for breakfast at the lodge before we make the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park which is famous for the tree-climbing lions.

The drive to this area takes approximately 3 - 4 hours on dusty roads. In case of a previous lion sighting, we will enter the park in search of the tree-climbing lions.

These lions are not sighted every day so be aware that it will depend on nature.🤞

We'll then proceed to lunch and after that, we'll continue the journey to our accommodation in Bwindi Ruhija.

The road is adventurous with an African massage since we'll be driving through the park.

Dinner will be served at the lodge in Bwindi.

About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:

Bwindi is all a 25,000-year-old rainforest should be. It is mystical, dense, evergreen, and very wet.

Situated on a mountainous landscape on the edge of the Rift Valley, it is renowned for gorilla trekking as it has the highest number of habituated groups, numbered at 50 groups.

On the part of the population, Bwindi is home to approximately 459 gorillas!

This is a huge advantage compared to Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park and Congo's Virunga National Park that have 10 and 8 groups respectively.

95% of the park is made up of a lush tropical forest that covers 321km2.

The remaining 5% is made up of marshlands like Mubwindi, a piece of paradise where you can pursue the park's 350 recorded species, inclusive of 23 endemics, 6 of which are ranked among the 10 most sought birds in East Africa.

Stay: Overnight at Bakiga Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included
Travel time: 7 - 8 hours based on stopovers

Today is potentially the most memorable day of your life! (besides your wedding day perhaps 😉).

After an early breakfast, we'll leave the lodge at 7:20 am and drive to the information center just 10 minutes away to prepare for the Gorilla trekking.

Packed lunch boxes will also be provided for each guest to take along with them.

After the briefing from the Ranger and guide, we'll traverse to the Gorilla sanctuary to start tracking these magnificent creatures.

It takes approximately 1 - 2 hours or less to find the Gorillas based on where they are located.

We'll get to spend 1-hour observing and taking pictures of the Gorillas in the wild.

Note: If you want to spend more time with the Gorillas, you can do the Gorilla habituation, and you'll get to spend 4 hours with the Gorillas as they go about their behavior in the forest. It’s a special opportunity for anyone who wishes to stay longer in the forest. A Gorilla habituation permit is an additional $1500 USD per person.

After the Gorilla trekking, we'll head back to the lodge to relax for the afternoon and dinner will be served in the evening.

Stay: Overnight at Bakiga Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 8: Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, we'll start our journey to Lake Bunyonyi.

The drive takes approximately 3.5 hours to reach our accommodation in Bunyonyi on a partly bumpy road through the park.

Lake Bunyonyi is undoubtedly the most beautiful lake in Uganda with 29 islands surrounded by steep terraced hillsides that are reminiscent of parts of Nepal and also appear on the 5000 Shilling note for Uganda.

Bunyonyi becomes more magical in the morning as the mist rises off the placid water.

Cancellation Policy

With the uncertain times we face, we understand you might be wondering about the cancellation policy should you need to cancel once payment has been made.

Because it's mandatory to have travel insurance on our group trips, your travel insurance provider will have you covered for the cancellation of the trip as long as the reason for canceling is included in your plan. Most travel insurances also cover Covid should you contract the virus and are not able to travel.

This means your travel insurance will provide you with a full refund of the trip payment including the deposit. If for whatever reason the trip gets canceled due to unforeseen natural events, your travel insurance will also cover this.

If you would like to cancel your spot on the group trip for personal reasons, you can do so up to 30 days before the trip start date and receive a full refund, minus the $700 deposit.

Cancellation of booking or failure to join the group trip less than 30 days before the trip start date will result in the retention of 100% of the trip cost.

Covid Protocols

The well-being and safety of everyone on our group trips, including local guides and the local communities we visit are our utmost priority.

While we adjust to this new world, Elliott, myself, and the local tour operators we partner with are committed to ensuring your peace of mind and the safety of everyone with enhanced health standards and practices throughout all group trips.

Although safety measures are in place to provide hand sanitizer and face masks to all guests throughout the trip, we recommend bringing your own personal mask, gloves, and sanitary products that will be enough to cover the full duration of the trip. These may also be required to be used during your travels for entering airports, restaurants, shopping centers, hotels, etc.

Should you happen to contract Covid during the trip, your travel insurance should cover medical costs. Be sure to double-check this with your travel insurance provider.

Covid Tests:

You'll have to get a Covid PCR test taken 48-72 hours prior to your departure flight from your home country.

This varies with different airlines, so it's best to check with the airline you are flying with for the most up-to-date Covid protocols and requirements.

On arrival, all travelers must present a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of arriving in Uganda.

On departure, all travelers are required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure from Uganda.

Before your departure flight from Uganda, we'll be stopping in Kampala on the last day of the itinerary to get a Covid test taken at an approved medical center.

Below are the fees for the Covid test which will be at your own expense:

  • General testing – $69 USD with results in 12 hours
  • Emergency testing – $135 USD with results in 6 hours

Based on the time of your departure flight, you'll need to take the appropriate Covid test keeping in mind that you'll need to be at the airport 4 hours before your flight.
